The new Kia Optima was first time introduced in 2010. It was designed by Kia’s design team from Frankfurt, Germany. It featured the “tiger-nose” grille, the subtle wedge shape, and the beautifully appointed interior. All in all, it was a great car to drive. However, it was time for some refreshing. Although 2014 model is restyled and updated, there is already a big interest for a next, 2015 model. We expect that 2015 Kia Optima won’t be too much different from current 2014 model.
2014 model was updated with some futuristic details, especially on the front fascia. The front end took an extra futuristic look and regular headlights are replaced with LEDs just like in a Pro_cee’d GT. . The aesthetically pleasing fender vents now have a beautiful chrome wing. On the rear end there are updated LED taillights, a rear diffuser, and a re-shaped trunk.
2015 Kia Optima Changes
However, the biggest changes were made inside. New 2015 Kia Optima redesigned will feature not only with 4.3-inch TFT screen, but also an optional all-new 8-inch navigation and telematics screen. There are also new, redesigned seats which are now even more comfortable. There is also, for the first time a drive mode selector, which gives you ability to sharpen the response of the transmission by toggling the power-assist steering levels. However, this thing is available only in the highest, SX trim level. When we talk about trim levels, there are still three levels: Optima LX, Optima EX and Optima SX. The basic LX includes 16-inch alloys, fog lights, tinted glass, and a dual exhaust. The medium EX features 17-inch alloys and also a leather seats. The highest, SX trim level includes much more aggressive fascias and also 18-inch alloys. There is also a SX Limited variant, which includes some more things such as an electric park brake, LED fog lights, Nappa leather seats and even a chrome wheels.
Under the hood things are pretty much the same. There is basic 2.4 liter gasoline direct injection engine, which produces 200 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. There is also a 2.0 liter turbo engine with 274 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 2015 Kia Optima hybrid version is updated in order to give more power. With 2.4 liter engine combined with electromotor you will now get 206 horses and 195 lb-ft of torque.
All in all, these changes will keep our attention until next generation comes in two or three years. Its release date is expected in mid 2014.
